High-speed videos and void fraction distribution, obtained using conductivity probes, have been used to study air-water flows in a 12.7-cm diameter transparent pipe at HTRI’s Research & Technology Center. Based on an evaluation of existing flow regime maps with experimental data, we propose an improved flow regime map of two-phase flow distribution for adiabatic upflow in large diameter vertical pipes.
