Abstract:
Measurements during the last several decades provide insight on conditions necessary for the onset of fluidelastic instability in tube bundles. An analysis of these data shows that functional dependencies of the critical velocity on the mass damping ratio and the tube pattern are not well represented in the current HTRI method. This report describes an improved functional relationship for predicting this important threshold velocity in Xist® and Xvib®.
