RB2-3 Shellside Condensation Finned Tube Bundle Heat Transfer Data

This research brief summarizes the results of the condensation heat transfer project for baffled finned tube bundles undertaken at HTRI since 1979.

The data obtained from the HTRI boiling-condensing research pilot plant cover a wide range of flow regimes for pure fluids and a typical hydrocarbon binary mixture on two types of finned tubes. The data are used to check the correlations and design methods for finned tube bundles described in the HTRI Report CS-3, issued in December 1977. At that time no extensive data were available on well-defined baffled finned tube bundles.

As the result of the project, major modifications of the original correlations have been made to better represent the new data.
