Abstract:
Several different "field fixes" were attempted to delay the onset of the fluidelastic instability tube vibration in the shell-and-tube test exchanger at the Argonne National Laboratory. Some were quite successful and one was shown to be avoided. The "field fixes" tried were ones that could be made without pulling the bundle.
