RB1-4 HTRI Computer Programs Vibration Analysis U-Bend Simulation Problem Adjustments

There are a number of heat exchangers tested for flow-induced vibration problems using the HTRI Computer Programs ST-4 and CST-1 that have U-tube bundles. The procedures assume very specific geometries that may differ from the actual design. While satisfactory for the thermal and hydraulic evaluation of the exchanger, these geometries may be misleading for the vibration analysis. This research brief presents techniques whereby the results on the computer printouts can be adjusted for the actual U-bend geometries.
