Using recently acquired research tools, HTRI can perform state-of-the-art quantitative and qualitative flow visualization to enhance understanding of flow patterns in heat exchangers. The results can be used to improve HTRI Xchanger Suite® methods. In this article, we briefly describe our plan to measure flow patterns, flow distribution, and phase separation of air-water two-phase flow in a transparent shell-and-tube heat exchanger.
