Abstract:

Fouling in the crude oil preheat train results in financial losses into the billions annually and significantly increases greenhouse gas emissions. However, proper heat exchanger design and operation can effectively minimize such fouling. This article suggests several modifications to current practices that, when applied together, effectively mitigate fouling in the crude oil preheat train.
