A general review of literature on plate heat exchangers is presented. This report discusses geometry, material of construction, areas of application, and gasket material and operating limitations. The problem of fouling is addressed and a table is included which provides the recommended values of fouling resistances in PHEs. Correlations for heat transfer and pressure drop are presented.
