ESG-8 Comparison of the Performance of Inline and Staggered Banks of Tubes with Segmented Fins

Heat transfer and pressure drop measurements were made on inline and staggered banks from two different types of segmented finned tubes. In addition, a detailed investigation of temperature and velocity profiles was conducted on several of the tube banks tested. The heat transfer data for the tube banks tested indicate a great difference in performance between inline and staggered layouts. The data from the inline layouts show a strong dependence on the tube and layout geometries which has not been observed for staggered layouts.
