Abstract:
This report reviews reflux condensation literature and recommends a preliminary design approach. Most of the existing information covers the flooding phenomenon. Several available correlations are compared, including HTRI’s Cgt method, and a new HTRI method is proposed. This report also reviews other possible design problems such as temperature profile estimation. Tubeside enhancement and shellside reflux condensation are also examined. Design procedures are applied to CST, and an example is provided. The report concludes with recommendations for research and design.
