Abstract:
HTRI used an ideal inline plain tube bundle to collect crossflow boiling data for fluids with noncondensable gas. Using these data, we improved the predictions of the vapor-phase coefficient at the liquid-vapor interface and the convective boiling mixture correction factor in our crossflow boiling model. For cases with a large amount of noncondensable gas, the proposed method predicts up to 70% lower vapor-phase resistance. Convective boiling requires less mixture correction in the shear-controlled regime, but more in the gravity-controlled regime.
