Boiling of mixtures is frequent in industrial practice. Nevertheless, information on the subject is still scarce and no general correlation is available to predict the corresponding heat transfer rates.

Available experimental data on boiling mixtures indicate an important decrease in heat transfer effectiveness as compared with the pure components.

This report examines the state-of-the-art concerning boiling of binary liquid mixtures, reviews the available theoretical models and presents recommendations for future work necessary to improve our knowledge of such phenomena.
