Abstract:
HTRI boiling correlations for mixtures should use the true critical pressure. In this report, we describe a shortcut method that uses the component’s critical temperature, pressure, and molar volume to predict the critical properties for multicomponent hydrocarbon mixtures (except those containing methane). For mixtures with and without methane, we present an alternative correlation that uses the mole-averaged pseudocritical pressure and the boiling range to predict true critical pressure. These methods should be used if a suitable property package is not available to rigorously calculate the true critical pressure on a thermodynamic basis.
